The director of 600 miles was interviewed by Carmen Aristegui. In it, talks about the illegal arms trade between the United States and Mexico as part of a failed operation that triggers the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
The filmmaker said, "I was looking to make the most honest movie I could ... I wanted to do it in the most responsible way, I did not simplify it and say 'these are the good and these the bad', there is a range of grays that's where I'm more interested to move. "
The debut of Gabriel Ripstein is one of the selected films to compete for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film. The film premiered in Mexico on December 4th.
